Our Story

HeatSavers “Your Healthy Home Experts, Specialising in Insulating Existing Walls” has been formed to provide customers with a truly complete solution to all your home insulation needs. With the emphasis in the marketplace over the past few years being on ceiling and under-floor insulation, HeatSavers identified that the walls of most existing houses would be the next logical step for home owners.

Researching the various products available to do this work, HeatSavers, identified ThermoWall insulation, as a market proven product that was specifically designed to insulate the walls of existing homes. ThermoWall insulation has been in New Zealand for over 30 years, with significant investment in R&D and has gained market acceptance, with over 15,000 satisfied customers.

HeatSavers are “Your Healthy Home Experts”, providing you with all your insulation needs, specialising in the insulation of existing walls.

Our History

John Munro, son of New Zealand icon Burt Munro, made famous in the movie "The World's Fastest Indian",  was the pioneer of wall insulation in New Zealand. With over 30 years of technical and practical experience in the New Zealand marketplace, John is now HeatSavers National Advisor.

He is an Associate Member of the N.Z. Institute of Heating and Ventilating Engineers and has also been active in the early years of the Building Services Group of the Institution of Professional Engineers of New Zealand. He has been involved in these industries for some 40 years.

During his period of involvement, he developed allied products making extensive use of foamed plastics technology and he was the founder of a company, which developed to be a world leader in its field, with offices in Australia spearheading a major export effort. In 1980 John Munro sold his interest in this company and has brought his expertise and knowledge of foamed plastics, together with development and administrative experience to the home energy efficiency sector.
